I have been a big Delbert McClinton fan since the first time I heard him back in the mid 70's. He has so much soul when he sings and plays. I think that is because he has a lot of soul as a person. When you spend time with Delbert, you find out just how real and down to earth he is. What you see is what you get and you get a lot. He never gave up on the kind of music he loves. The best way to experience Delbert is "Live". His records are great but you do not get the ultimate Delbert until you are there in person.

I am always very excited and amazed to have Delbert on any of my sessions. This session was part of the Flying Burrito Brothers "Sons of the Golden West" CD that we recorded at Magic Tracks Studio in Berry Hill, Tenn. 1999. Delbert was not only kind enough to play harmonica on it he also sang a verse. He had a record deal pending at the time and was not sure if they would release him to sing on the session, but he said that he would record it and see what was happening when we got ready to do the final mix. When the dead line did come, I called Delbert to see if it was okay. He said he did not know for sure but to go ahead and mix with his vocal in there. Everything worked out and nobody had a problem with it least of all me because like I always say, "It Doesn't Get Any Better than Delbert".    Read on...
