THE SESSION PAGES - Stories, Songs & Pictures from Larry's Studio Sessions
"The only recording that I could find of this session has a few skips and jumps in it but we can still hear the feeling and the groove, which is what music is all about." Thanks, Larry
This was another one of those songs by "The Band" that I always liked and finally got the opportunity to record. This session was recorded in June of 1992 at Shilo Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. My good friend Don Potter owned the studio. Don did all of the acoustic guitar work on the Judds records and is a great recording engineer.
Delbert McClinton bass man at the time Garry West as part of the album entitled Larry Patton/1992, which he produced and played bass guitar on, put this session together. This was one of those sessions that just fell together.
ME & DELBERT
Like I said, we were at Don Potter's studio and he was engineering. He also played some acoustic guitar on the session. We used the whole Delbert McClinton band on this session including the horn section of Don Wise and Steve Herman. Garry West even played some Baritone sax. Bryan Owings is one of my favorite drummers and one of my favorite people. He always has a smile on his face. Mike Duke who has 11 Wet Willie albums to his credit as keyboard player did the piano work and Rick Kurtz (Eric Von Kurtz) played the lead and slide guitar. Rick is one of the smoothest slide players I know. Read on...
