I Ain't Livin' Long Like Like This

Rodney Crowell wrote this song several years ago. I know he had recorded it on an album and later Waylon made a huge hit out of it.

When I was recording the "California Jukebox", CD back in 1997 with the Flying Burrito Brothers I had very little time in my busy schedule to participate in the recording. Dennis Belfield did all of the bass guitar work and I opted to just do vocals with the small amount of available time I had. I was only at the sessions when it was my turn to sing. This duet that Waylon was so gracious to do with me was done mostly without me there. All of the music was finished and we still could not find a time when we could be in the studio together. So I did my part one day and he did his another. I am still amazed when after I sing the first verse I say "Sing One Waylon" that he always comes in singing.

It is truly a great honor to be among the few singers that can honestly say that they have recorded a duet with Waylon Jennings.

It was also exciting to have steel guitar legend Sneaky Pete Kleinow on this particular song. It made it even more special.

A quote from Waylon:
While singing his part on this song (which we did a lot faster than his version) he said, and this is a quote, "Hoss, I'd better not fall down or that drummer will run right over me".
